Linda Kathleen Almaguer

February 14, 1948 ~ August 1, 2014 (age 66)


Linda Kathleen Winkles Almaguer left this earth Friday August 1, 2014, at the age of 66 years young. Kathleen was born on February 14, 1948 in Lamesa, NM to Hershal Lewis and Jeanne Nelson with Leo Winkles assuming paternal responsibilities in her youth.
Memorial Services will be held 6:00 p.m. Thursday, August 7 2014 at First Presbyterian Church of Lovington all are welcome to attend. Visitation will be held Wednesday August 6, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home of Lovington. Cremation will take placed at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home of Lovington.

Kathleen has resided in Lovington since 1951. Counseling, nursing, and caring for others fulfilled her life. She attended college in New Mexico State University, Texas Tech University, and New Mexico Junior College. She achieved a Masters degree in counseling, Bachelors degree in education, and Associates degree in nursing, becoming an ICU Registered Nurse at Lea Regional Hospital. She has also taught several classes for NMSU and NMJC. Kathleen enjoyed travelling, history, music, dance, and attending art festivals. She was an accomplished Artist in Oil and watercolor Painting. Kathleen was driven to help others, making them feel at ease and loved. Her love for animals and earth was unprecedented. She was a beautiful, spiritual, kind, empathetic soul with a smile that would light up a room and warm the hearts of all those present. She will be missed insurmountably, but her legacy of love will be carried on through the hearts of her family and friends.

Survivors include: son: Xavier Dario Almaguer, Chips and daughter: Sonya Linda Almaguer both of Lovington, NM, and Dallas, TX children of father Theodore Oscar Almaguer brothers: Mark Charles Winkles and wife Jeri of Dolores, Colo. Samuel Charles Winkles and wife Carol Winkles of Las Cruses, NM niecesnephews: Sadie Kathleen Ortiz, Adam Levi Winkles, Mary Winkles, Loraine Winkles, Milton Winkles, John Zack Winkles, Steven Winkles, Samuel Winkles with numerous grandniecesnephews.
She was preceded in death by her Parents and grandparents.
