Alicia Quiroz, 83, was born on April 22, 1936 to Joe Granger and Ascencion Saenz in Carlsbad, New Mexico. On July 24th,1958, she married the love of her life Manuel Quiroz and they began their family in Lovington, NM. Alicia took pride in her education and became a Teachers Aid for 25 years in the Lovington School District. She was a nurturing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a devoted wife. She loved visiting with friends and especially enjoyed sharing memories of her past with her children and grandchildren. There was never a hesitated moment that she would share a smile and a hug with anyone. Above all else, Alicia loved God. She was an active member of St. Thomas Catholic Church where she was a communion minister and participant in prayer groups.
Alicia took her final breath on August 13th, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Alicia is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Tom, Mike, Henry, Gilbert and Joe Granger, Jr.; and daughter, Diane Alarcon. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 61 years, Manuel Quiroz, Sr.; son, Manuel Quiroz, Jr. and wife Alma Quiroz; daughters: Priscilla and Donna Quiroz; brother, Adam Granger; 8 grandchildren: Anissa and James Laws, Danyelle, Heather, and Manuel Quiroz III, Daisha and Kelsi Pando and Jade Young and 3 great- grandchildren: Aiden Pando, Zoe Jaramillo, and Ricardo Jaxton (RJ) Villela. Pallbearers to serve will be: James Laws, Manuel Quiroz III, Jerry Alarcon, Ricardo Villela, Jr., Rudy Quiroz, Billy Granger, Kelsi Pando and Jade Young.
Visitation will be held from 2:00PM-8:00PM with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 6:00PM, Friday, August 16, 2019 at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 9:00AM, August 17, 2019 at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Lovington City Cemetery. All services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
