Lubbock - Miriam Nell Jackie church, 93 passed away Sunday, May 6th, 2012. She was born January 21st, 1919 to Isom and Essie Collier in Hollis Oklahoma and came to Lubbock in 1972. She enjoyed her time fishing and telling stories about her kids and her life growing up with 10 siblings. She worked for Pinkies Inc. in food service management until her retirement in 1997. Miriam is survived by two sons, Joe Mccown, and T.J. McCown, both of Lubbock, three sisters Betty Batty, of Roswell, New Mexico, Shirley Hooper Gaarcia, of Roswell, New Mexico and Lavida Kinnear also of Roswell, New Mexico, 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death of her parents, two sons Don E. McCown, Johnny Ray McCown, one daughter Nancy C. McCown. Memorial services wll be held Thursday, May 17th 2012 at 3:00 P.M. at Stevens Funeral Home, Lovington New Mexico. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Heritage Oaks Assisted Living Center and Hospice of Lubbock for the excellent care our mother received.
